A chair massage routine includes 5 steps:
Step 1: Start your chair massage with compression and stroking from the upper back, then move to upper arm area using shaking and kneading strokes upward from the elbow to the shoulder.
Step 2: Maintain compression to the lower back and hips. Using light to moderate compression strokes, apply pressure to the lower back. Stroke from the lower ribs to the hips, then direct pressure to the hips and provide some stretch for the back muscles. Work along the muscles, moving inward along the iliac crest toward the spine.
Step 3: Move up to the spine toward the neck area. Using light to moderate kneading, work the muscles along the sides and back of the neck, from the shoulder to the base of the skull and below the ears.
Step 4: Pay special attention to the small muscles at the nape before working upward. Using fingertip strokes to run across the scalp from forehead to neck.
Step 5: Complete the massage with several long strokes from the shoulders to the hips before gently helping the client sit up.
